“Scouts' Send-off Service”
"On Sunday morning last there was a Scouts' demonstration at Bramhall in honour of five of the Bramhall Scouts who have volunteered for service in a branch of the public services connected with the defence of our country. The names of the Scouts are Patrol Leader Joseph Leonard Moorhouse, and Scouts Clifford Baines, Willie Hancock, Geoffrey Hewitt and John Bromley Sibson."

“For Military Service”
"At the Primitive Methodist School on Sunday, at the close of the usual service, Mr S. Penney introduced the reading of a letter of appreciation of the young men connected with the school who have undertaken military service on behalf of their country. It was a commendable effort, considering that the Primitive Methodist community was small, that nine from the Sunday School had left them in the cause of King and country. Their names were :-"

"There are about sixteen more men from the Brigade who are on active service at various places. Sergeant T. M. Sayer, Corporal (?) Gosling, and Privates John Daniels, (?) Daniels, E. Moss, J. Taylor, E. Jones and (?) Harrison are at Tidworth; Private S. (?) at Isle of Wight; Private Jos. Higginbotham at Chiseldon; Corporal H. E. Oldham, who has been made corporal since he left Hazel Grove, at Belfast; Private Leftly at Inniskillen; Private Jos. Vernon in Egypt and Private James Bennett at Blandford. James Moss and W. Hammond are on (?) service, but place not known, probably suppressed by the censor."
